Adobe Creative Cloud – Student and Teacher Edition

Updated: This webpage  has a great video that explains the ins and outs of Adobe Creative Cloud.

I received an email from Adobe today offering their student and teacher edition of the new Adobe Creative Cloud services for $29.99 per month. I know very little about how this cloud business would work, but I am due for an upgrade on my current Adobe software and am collecting information.

My first thought is that this cloud idea might be good for students taking multimedia composition but who don’t want to purchase  (or can’t afford to purchase) the expensive Creative Suite just to see if they like it. It seems like it could be a good “trial” option for a short unit on PhotoShop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

Have you used the Adobe Creative Cloud? If so, what are your thoughts?

  • Is it a good value for students and teachers?
  • What is the advantage of purchasing the Creative Cloud vs. the software package for which you pay once and have forever?
